How to install everything |
In order to use this page, you need to have all the things listed in the "What you need" page. Now that you have all the materials, you need to do some slight tweaking. There are plenty of readme files available from the downloaded software, especially with geomview.
Some helpful hints
- Make sure that the Perl scripts are listed in your path, otherwise Mosaic will not be able to run geomview and pass the necessary information to it.
- The Perl scripts are currently for the Mosaic Web Browser only. We haven't seen any Netscape versions yet.
- Make sure that the Perl interpretor is in the directory /usr/local/bin. If it isn't, change the appropriate lines in the Perl scripts.
- Make sure that Geomview is in your path also.
- You will need to have access to DataExplorer in order to use the dx2web module.
This is what you will need to use the dx2web module
The dx2web module is currently available for two platforms: (1)HP 700 and (2) IBM RS/6000 workstations
HP700 workstations
IBM RS/6000 workstations
Then you need to get the source code for this module. The dx2web source code is here. Please save it as dx2web.c
You will also need the following files (Doesn't matter which system we are dealing with):
Now, you need to do the following:
- type make at the prompt
- type dx -exec ./dxexec -mdf ./user.mdf &
