Usage of GraNet



There are varieties of actions.

  1. Input Files
  2. Reload Images
  3. Refresh Images
  4. Change Color
  5. Rotation
  6. Zooming
  7. Continuous Action



  1. Input Files

    There are two ways of specifying graphics files.

    • Use Input Window
      1. Click Input Window next to Input File.
      2. Input File Name with an absolute path.
      3. Click OK button.
      4. Click Clear button if you have mistyped.

    • Click VRML files menu
      Double-click one file from VRML files menu.

      There are two types of files in the menu.

      1. *.wrl file is a file defined by VRML; however it does not have a reduced data so that it can not refine the image gradually. The figure between "_" and "v" represents the number of vertices which construct the graphics data. Compare some images.
      2. *.ref file is a file defined by VRML and reduced by this project. This file has a reduced data so that it can refine the image gradually. The figure between "_" and "i" represents the number of images the file has. It also means the total steps of the progressive refinement.

  2. Reload Images

    Click one image from Loaded Images menu.

  3. Refresh Images

    Click Refresh button if images are not refined.

  4. Change Color

    There are three ways of changing the color.

    • Change Only One Color
      Drag a scroll bar or click an arrow button of (R, G, B). The color value next to (R,G,B) is changed automatically.

    • Change Lightness
      Drag a scroll bar or click an arrow button of L. The lightness value next to L is changed automatically. This action changes only the lightness of the color based on the original color.

    • Reset Color
      Click Color Reset button. This action retrieves the original color.

  5. Rotation

    There are three actions for rotating an image.

    • Rotation
      Click one button of (X, Y, Z). The image is rotated around X, Y or Z axis. X axis goes from left to right. Y axis goes from bottom to top. axis goes from back to front, directing to you. By one action, the image is rotated by 8 degrees.

    • Change Rotate Direction
      Click Reverse button. The action changes the rotate direction.

    • Reset Posture
      Click All Reset button. This action retrieves the original data so that every feature is reset.

  6. Zooming

    There are three actions for zooming.

    • Expanding
      Click + button. The image is expanded.

    • Shrinking
      Click - button. The image is shrunk.

    • Reset
      Click Reset button. The original size of the image is retrieved.

  7. Continuous Action

    First, click the center of the image. The low level of the image is displayed if it is an refined data (*.ref). Then, drag the cursor. The image is rotated or expanded/shrunk according to the relationship between the first picked position and the current mouse position. While dragging, the low level of the image is displayed; however, once the mouse button is released, the image is refined automatically and the most detailed image is displayed. The action detail is as follows.

    • Up: Negative rotation around X axis

    • Down: Positive rotation around X axis

    • Right: Positive rotation around Y axis

    • Left: Negative rotation around Y axis

    • Left-Top: Negative rotation around Z axis

    • Right-bottom: Positive rotation around Z axis

    • Left-Down: Expansion

    • Right-Top: Shrink
