Purpose

MRI is an important imaging technique to advance our understanding of the brain.   However, due to the mathematical complexities of MRI, there are few resources to aid in teaching MRI at an introductory level.  

The goal of this project is to explain the basic physics behind MRI at a level comprehensible by a student in an introductory neuroscience course.  The project's scope is to demonstrate how an MRI machine uses RF pulses and magnetic gradients to spatially encode information, and how this information is processed to allow image formation.

The project takes a visual approach to demonstrating how information is encoded and interpreted by an MRI machine.
