For our final project, we created a mechatronic penalty kick video game that uses an EMG muscle sensor as a controller. The EMG signal from a player's muscle (e.g., bicep, quadricep) is used to control a robotic leg, which will parallel their motion as they expand and contract their own muscle. The rotation of the leg in the plane parallel to the floor is automatically adjusted, thus allowing it to “kick” objects at different angles. By adjusting the timing of the robotic kick, the player will attempt to kick a ball towards various targets.
