Timeline

Sun Mar 24-Tuesday Mar 26: finalize project ideas, what we want to do and make sure it's feasible.
Sat Apr 6 - Sun Apr 7: Determine parts we need and order them
Mon Apr 8: Break Ground Coding, debug basic code for rest of week
Mon Apr 15: Write and debug test code for RF chips, learn wiring of test chips
Fri Apr 18- Sat Apr 20: Test RF chips, Failed so far, more testing next week with UART
Sun Apr 21: shopping for low friction bearings, lightweight fin and anemometer parts (no luck with bearings)
Mon Apr 22: Try to get UARTs to communicate unsuccessfully for several hours
Tues Apr 23 - Wed Apr 24: Solved UART issue, tested RF chips as transmitter and receiver with some success.
Fri Apr 26: Tested photo interrupters with immediate success
Sat Apr 27: Wrung out code, temp sense working, transmitting working, display working; also soldering begins
Sun Apr 28: Finished soldering, found bugs in carrier detect of receiver chip and temperature sense, both were unreliable.  Created fin and found material for base.
Mon Apr 29: Fixed bugs by reducing noise on carrier detect signal (moved away from UART), also moved incorrectly placed capacitor on temperature sensing circuit.  Made anemometer and mounted circuit board, fin, and anemometer to base.

Put it all together and it worked great for the demo.
