We used a Sega Genesis controller in conjunction with a 9 pin serial port and connected it to port A of the microcontroller. We chose the Sega Genesis controller because it was relatively simple to implement and we found the pinouts from projects from previous years. The setup of our controller pins is shown below.

The TV was hooked up with a video cable to port D of the microcontroller, the schematic is shown below: We also built our own prototype board based on the specifications given on the class website (see References).
